The Benefit Corporation as an Exemplar of Integrative Corporate Purpose

Sixth World Congress of the International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics

Overview

Philadelphia partner Bill Clark presented a paper titled, “The Benefit Corporation as an Exemplar of Integrative Corporate Purpose” at the Sixth World Congress of the International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics in Shanghai on July 14, 2016.

The paper, written in collaboration with David Steingard, Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics at St. Joseph’s University, discussed how benefit corporations offer important substantive improvements over the shareholder and stakeholder models of corporate behavior that previously have been used as a basis for business ethics.

The World Congress of the International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics is known as the "Olympics of Business Ethics.” Held every four years, it brings together scholars of business ethics from around the world.
