Faegre Baker Daniels associate Jigar Gandhi has been appointed to the District of Columbia Financial Services Regulatory Sandbox and Innovation Council, established by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser in early 2019.
The Council is charged with studying and reporting on the feasibility of implementing a financial services regulatory sandbox in D.C. The Council is also called upon to develop a blockchain and innovation regulatory framework to facilitate financial services innovation in D.C. If the sandbox is found to be feasible, the Council will provide legislative, programmatic and policy recommendations to the Mayor.
Gandhi is a member of FaegreBD’s insurance group and uses his trade association and regulatory background to guide his clients through a variety of insurance matters.
Prior to joining the firm, he served as counsel at the American Council of Life Insurers, where he was the subject matter authority on privacy, cybersecurity, insuretech, ORSA, FINRA and state securities issues. Gandhi also served as the regulatory affairs counsel for the Financial Services Institute and before launching his legal career, was a regulatory analyst at FINRA’s Office of Fraud Detection and Market Intelligence.
Gandhi earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Binghamton University.
