Drinker Biddle Ranked in the Annual Ocean Tomo/IAM Rankings
Drinker Biddle has been named among the nation’s best law firms in patent prosecution in Intellectual Asset Management (IAM)’s Ocean Tomo/IAM annual rankings in the Industrials category. The rankings recognize achievements in high-quality patent prosecution work before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
“It’s an honor to see Drinker Biddle’s Intellectual Property Practice given this recognition,” said Bob Stoll, Chair of Drinker Biddle’s Intellectual Property Group and former Commissioner for Patents of the USPTO.
Drinker Biddle’s Intellectual Property Group support clients with the patent process, from drafting to prosecuting patent applications strategically. Our lawyers and patent agents have strong technical and scientific backgrounds that enable us to deeply understand the details of our clients’ technologies, assess the patent landscape in order to maximize the value of patent portfolios globally, achieve business objectives, protect market share and address challenges posed by competitors. Many of our lawyers are former USPTO Examiners, some of whom have doctoral or masters’ degrees in their technical areas and many of whom have years of industry experience.
Ocean Tomo formulates the ranking by selecting top law firms by the number of US utility patents issued over the last three years. To categorize law firms in the four representative industry groups and overall, Ocean Tomo uses patents which had both a prosecuting attorney on the issued patent and an assignee. Patents without assignees on the record were excluded.
