How a Law Firm Disproved a Whistleblower in Seven Days and Saved $270,000

Washington, D.C., partner and chief data scientist Bennett Borden was featured in a Law.com article titled “How a Law Firm Disproved a Whistleblower in Seven Days and Saved $270,000.” The article describes Bennett’s use of analytics to predict and prevent misconduct before it happens.

In this case, Bennett led an investigation into a former executive at a publicly traded company who accused the company of falsifying records. By using advanced analytics, Bennett and the Information Governance and eDiscovery Group identified incriminating emails that proved that the former executive had falsified his claim. Bennett and the investigation team were also able to prove with certainty that there were no accounting irregularities, eliminating the need for the company to undergo an audit. In just seven days, using the evidence collected by Bennett and the investigation team, the client was able to shut down the case before it even started, saving the company an estimated $270,000 in legal fees.
