Mercedes Meyer and the IPO Women in IP Committee Recognized with Several Honors at IPO Annual Meeting

Washington, D.C., partner Mercedes Meyer and other members of the Women in IP Committee were presented the 2016 Outstanding Committee of the Year Award by the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) during the keynote session at the organization’s annual meeting on September 13. The committee was first formed in January 2016.

Mercedes is vice chair of the committee and was recognized alongside chair Laura Sheridan (Google Inc.), co-vice chair Priya Prasad (Exxon Mobil Corp.) and secretary Shruti Costales (Greenblum & Bernstein, P.L.C.).

IPO released the following in their daily newsletter on the group’s achievement:

“IPO President KEVIN RHODES of 3M congratulated the winners of the 2016 Outstanding Committee of the Year during Tuesday’s keynote session. Two committees received the award:

Newly established, the Women in IP Committee is the first and only professionally-focused IPO Standing IP Committee and has quickly grown to 48 members. The committee has hosted a kick-off networking cocktail hour at the IPO Patent Summit with guest speaker USPTO General Counsel SARAH HARRIS, a networking brunch at the 2016 IPO Annual Meeting with USPTO’s Director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity BISMARCK MYRICK speaking on the topic of unconscious bias, and two IP Patch events to teach girl scouts about the importance of IP. Committee Chair LAURA SHERIDAN (Google Inc.), Vice Chair MERCEDES MEYER (Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP), Vice Chair PRIYA PRASAD (Exxon Mobil Corp.), and Secretary SHRUTI COSTALES (Greenblum & Bernstein, P.L.C.) accepted the award on behalf of the committee.”
