Katherine E. Armstrong Quoted in Bloomberg BNA on What We can Expect from Yahoo’s Second Data Breach in Three Months

Washington, D.C. of counsel Katherine E. Armstrong was quoted in a Bloomberg BNA article titled “Yahoo’s Billion Account Breach May Force Regulators to Act Publicly.” The article discussed the increased likelihood of regulators taking public data security enforcement action given Yahoo’s second major data breach revelation in three months.

Katherine agreed that it would be surprising if various regulators in the U.S. and internationally did not investigate how Yahoo failed to secure personal data of 1.5 billion accounts. “Certainly the Yahoo breach will catch the attention of regulators, but that is almost all we know for certain. Whether or not the FTC determines to bring a law enforcement action depends upon the careful analysis of the facts surrounding the breach,” Katherine explained.
