Jason R. Baron Quoted in Legaltech New York Special Edition Article

Washington, D.C. of counsel Jason R. Baron was recently quoted in a special edition article of LegalTech News titled, “A New Digital World.” The article discusses newly emerging issues in information governance within organizations and specifically cites three controversies in the previous couple years – The Fort Lee lane closure, “Deflategate,” and Hilary Clinton’s use of a private email server for the conduct of official business.  Individuals have the ability to use applications and communication platforms that are uncontrolled by their organizations, and employees are empowered to use the internet in any way that they want, outside of the organizations control.

Jason explains, “This is a problem for many people who think their device, or the app that they use which stores material, is theirs to solely control, even if they’re talking about corporate matters on it. If you’re employed by an organization, and you’re talking about issues that are of relevance to litigation, then the corporation has an ability to reach out to your devices and the places that you have stored corporate data, to require that you hand it all in or be subject to some sort of disciplinary penalty.
