Gary Rinkerman Appointed to International Trademark Association Design Rights Committee

Gary Rinkerman of the Washington, D.C. office has been appointed by the International Trademark Association (INTA) to its new Design Rights Committee. With the recent changes in U.S. design patent law and EU design rights, as well as the integration of copyright, trade dress, rights of publicity and other intellectual property rights in product and content design analyses, the new Committee will address a number of practical concerns that are relevant to key industries that rely on design innovations - such as fashion, digital content creators and technology products companies.

The Design Rights Committee will develop and advocate the INTA’s policy regarding the impacts of design law. The Committee will monitor design cases, legislation and regulation in various jurisdictions, complete analyses and propose policy recommendations to the INTA's Board of Directors. The Committee's work will also include report and submission writing, interaction with design organizations and advocacy in conjunction with relevant INTA committees and staff.
