Three FaegreBD Attorneys Honored with Pro Bono Publico Awards

Three Faegre Baker Daniels attorneys received Pro Bono Publico Awards from the Indiana Bar Foundation on Oct. 10. The awards were presented at the Randall Shepard pro bono award reception at CMG Worldwide headquarters as part of the Indiana State Bar Association's annual meeting.

The award selection committee noted the firm's emphasis on pro bono among legal professionals, citing FaegreBD's practice of granting billable credit for pro bono work. "The firm's commitment to encouraging pro bono among partners and associates was particularly evident to the committee," said Charles R. Dunlap, executive director of the Indiana Bar Foundation.

Catherine Clements, associate in FaegreBD's health care and FDA practice, received the award for her pro bono work which includes a focus on domestic violence issues. Clements gives hands-on assistance to a domestic violence shelter, and in 2013 helped clients in two situations: a custody battle and a protective order filing.

Carl Greci, a business and finance litigation partner at FaegreBD, was recognized for taking pro bono cases outside his primary focus area and achieving positive results. In one case, he successfully won a new roof for a client's home. He has also represented clients with immigration and asylum issues, including helping three Iraqi refugee families seek permanent, safe residence in the U.S.

Robert Kistler, an associate in FaegreBD's benefits and executive compensation practice, was highlighted for his extensive pro bono work including ensuring that military members receive quality legal advice prior to deployment. Kistler has also helped with Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana, an organization that sends veterans to Washington, D.C. to see memorials dedicated to their sacrifice. An Army veteran himself, Kistler helped create the Indiana Lawyers for Soldiers program and transitioned it to the Indiana State Bar Association.
