Drinker Biddle Adds Two Discovery & Information Governance Partners

Bennett B. Borden and Jay Brudz joined Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP today as partners in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. They will chair Drinker's Information Governance and Electronic Discovery practice as well as help oversee the firm’s ediscovery subsidiary, Drinker Discovery Solutions. They served as co-chairs of the Electronic Discovery and Information Governance Section of their previous firm, Williams Mullen.

Borden focuses his practice on electronic discovery and information governance and conducts both offensive and defensive discovery in complex litigation cases. He also counsels clients on the establishment of information governance and records management policies and regularly advises his multinational client base on data privacy, security and regulatory compliance. Borden also speaks and writes frequently on ediscovery and Information Governance.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Borden was in private practice at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He was the founder and executive director of Sign Language Consultants and served for a time as an interpreter coordinator for the Central Intelligence Agency.
Borden is Chair of the Internet Relationships and Cloud Computing Committee and Vice-Chair of the ediscovery and Digital Evidence Committee of the American Bar Association Science and Technology Law Section. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, and his bachelor’s degree, with highest honors, from George Mason University.
In addition to managing ediscovery for bet-the-company complex litigation, Brudz advises clients on the building and management of highly sophisticated discovery operations, and helps them address internal compliance and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations and develop enterprise-level information governance best practices.
Before entering private practice, he worked in-house for General Electric Company (GE) as senior counsel, legal technology, where he created and led the corporate discovery center, which supported more than 1200 lawyers. He was responsible for all corporate technology initiatives within GE’s legal operation. He has held other positions in GE, including e-commerce counsel and transactions attorney for GE Industrial Systems. He has also worked as a web based application architect and a computer forensic examiner.
A popular speaker, Brudz is a frequent lecturer at industry events on legal technology and discovery, and also regularly writes articles on discovery topics. He earned both his law degree and bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the University of Connecticut.
