Dan Collins Move to Drinker Noted in Crain’s Chicago Business and Law360

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Dan Collins’ move to the firm was reported in Crain’s Chicago Business and Law360. Dan joined the firm on Monday, Feb. 11, as partner in the Commercial Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense & Corporate Investigations practice groups.

Crain’s notes that Dan was federal prosecutor in charge of the recent Mumbai terrorist trial and handled the prosecution of David Headley, who was sentenced last month to 35 years in prison for the 2008 attack.

Dan told Crain’s he was drawn to the firm because of its strength in international trade matters. “They have a built-in impressive list of clients that are going to need that help,” he said.

Law360 notes Dan’s statements that he is “thrilled to join the talented litigation practice at Drinker Biddle” and was “drawn particularly to its strength in international trade matters and its overall focus on client service.”

Firm chairman Alfy Putnam also hailed Collins’ experience in dealing with international issues, saying, “He is a superb lawyer with an excellent reputation, and his experience in handling international matters will be of obvious value to our clients doing business overseas and in our trial practice generally.”
