Ken Murphy’s Nomination to PHA Noted in Media

Philadelphia partner Ken Murphy has been nominated to the Board of Commissioners of the Philadelphia Housing Association (PHA), as noted in The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Inquirer notes that Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has submitted nine names to City Council for the agency's Board of Commissioners “in a major step toward restoring local control of the Philadelphia Housing Authority.”

The PHA has been under the control of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with only one commissioner since March 2011, after former Executive Director Carl Greene was fired following sexual-harassment allegations.

One of the conditions for returning the federally funded agency to local control was strengthening how the authority is governed. Resolutions for each nominee are likely to be voted on before Council's last session on Dec. 13.
